Drying Fans & Extractors

Overview

The airflow and air speed form one of the core pillars of the drying process. It is essential to match the correct volume of air at the optimal air speed to minimise excessive power consumption, while also allowing heat and moisture transfer into the air as it passes through the crop. At Harvest Installations, we supply both Centrifugal and Axial drying fans in a variety of forms to suit your store design. These range from low-level fan rooms to high-level plenums, or even fans positioned between raised fan rooms and the main air duct walkway. We supply centrifugal grain fans and axial grain fans supplying a vast array of airflows for your drying system.

Features of Our Drying Fans

Centrifugal Fans

Our range of equipment includes our centrifugal fan units. All steel construction with modern backward curved impellers, which are statically and dynamically balanced and mounted directly onto the motor shaft.

Axial Fans

Our wide range of Axial Fan Units enables Harvest Installations to cover not only the diverse range of air volumes and pressures required, but also any variation in installation requirements.

Get Control

We offer a range of fan controls, from basic on/off options that operate at full speed, to advanced inverter-based panels that provide flexible speed control, remote access, and enhanced operator feedback, delivering significant power savings and improved drying process efficiency.

Silence Is Golden

Silencers are available for our range of fans, fitting both centrifugal and axial models. Available in standard form and also with an internal pod fitted for even greater efficiency. Silencers are one diameter long as standard and are easily attached to the inlet of both types of fan.

Breathe Easily

G.E.V.E Gable-end extraction and ventilation units consisting of a 900mm diameter reversible fan unit with mounting plate. An external cowl which can be supplied insulated and fitted with an external silencer if required for noise-sensitive areas.

At Your Fingertips

Our store controller allows the operator to remotely manage the complete set of Harvest Installations equipment in the store lobby or via their mobile device. For further information, please refer to our Store Controller documentation.

Specification

Centrifugal Fans

Our range of equipment includes our centrifugal fan units. All steel construction with modern backward curved impellers, which are statically and dynamically balanced and mounted directly onto the motor shaft.

Available with standard, downdraught, and overhead outlets, they can be used in a variety of applications where maximum output is required against back pressure of up to 10″ (250mm) swg.

Where high outputs are required but electricity supply could be a problem, duplex fan units can be supplied, keeping the maximum electricity demand to a minimum and giving greater flexibility for drying batches within the store.

With the increasing popularity of internal fan houses within bulk stores, the downdraught fan, which is mounted above the main air tunnel, is frequently used. Its compact design and installation fit easily within these smaller fan-rooms.

As more bulk stores adopt temperature drying systems and are equipped with the Harvest Maxi-Stirrer system, these fans will handle air temperatures of up to 50°C without a significant rise in motor temperature. For even higher temperature applications, fans can be supplied with special motors to ensure trouble-free operation.

Axial Fans

Our wide range of Axial Fan Units enables Harvest Installations to cover not only the diverse range of air volumes and pressures required, but also any variation in installation requirements.

These standard units are supplied in heavy-duty galvanised casings with cast aluminium impellers, which provide high outputs per horsepower. The contra-rotating impellers will develop pressure equally as high as a similar output centrifugal fan.

For applications where there is a limit to electricity supply, Harvest two-stage in-line axial fans are the obvious choice.

Special situations can be considered where extremely high back pressure or high outputs are available to deliver performance suitable for virtually any application.

All model PFD fans can be supplied with mounting feet and an inlet guard. Downdraught applications are also available.

We also offer our PFDD model, a duplex 2-stage axial fan, which is ideal for applications requiring large quantities of air. The four electric motors provide the lowest possible maximum electricity demand and offer the greatest flexibility of any fan system, allowing them to run one, two, or all four motors. Outputs above 100,000 cfm are now commonplace for larger floor stores, and installation is simple and cost-effective.

Fan Control Panels

Our range includes a variety of controls for the fans, starting with the most cost-effective solution, where the fans are on or off, and when they are on, they just run at full speed.

In recent years, almost every installation has been completed using our inverter-based control panels, which offer greater flexibility in fan speed, access via additional devices, and increased feedback to the operator. These have significant cost implications for the drying process, resulting in substantial power savings.

Silencers

Silencers are available for our range of fans, fitting both centrifugal and axial models.

Available in standard form and also with an internal pod fitted for even greater efficiency. Silencers are one diameter long as standard and are easily attached to the inlet of both types of fan.
